Population Refuge Areas - Relief Areas – GLASSART

The relief areas are differentiated according to the duration of the populations lodging in them

Refuge areas

These are areas for immediate relief of the population upon the occurrence of a crisis. They are short-term stay areas. The capacity of the refuge areas is set at 2 sq.m. /person, when the area is located within the urban terrain.

Camp sites

These are temporary accommodation areas for those affected, until the damaged houses and other buildings are restored. They are long-term accommodation areas, with full fixed household equipment:

WC - shower areas, kitchen, bedrooms, electrical and plumbing installations.

Also spaces that meet the needs of municipalities such as municipal services, schools, meeting places, events, etc.

They can be placed in squares, empty plots, open-air, sports facilities as well as in urban green areas (parks, playgrounds and school and church courtyards)
